In the case of the cheek implants, improving the anterior projection of the cheekbones with the implant corrects deflated or flat areas of the midface, improving facial contour. The effect is similar to the injection of hyaluronic acid <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_self\"   href=\"\/en\/info\/dermal-fillers\/\">fillers<\/a> or autologous fat transfer but more predictable and permanent.<\/p>\n<p>The best candidates for silicone cheek implants are healthy adults with flat cheekbones, especially in younger patients with early onset lower lid bags. However, implants should not be used in teens before full bone maturity ensues, as the implant may interfere with skull development.<\/p>\n<p>Cheek implants are also a great compliment to facelift surgery because they provide three-dimensional enhancement of the midface.
