It\u2019s treatment consists of surgical resection in an operating room. This may be done with local anesthesia.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"\/?p=2770\">Mohs surgery<\/a> is the best way to eliminate <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_self\"   href=\"\/en\/info\/eyelid-cancer\/\">eyelid skin cancer<\/a>.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">Mohs surgery allows us to remove the tissue infiltrated by the cancer without disturbing healthy skin. Therefore, the mass is completely removed, but cancer-free skin is preserved.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">The first step consists of marking the skin affected by the tumor. Local anesthesia is applied in this area.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">Next, the surgeon removes the carcinoma and the specimen is given to the pathologist for immediate analysis.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">The specimen is placed on a diagram maintaining it\u2019s original anatomical orientation. The pathologist examines the margins of tumor to determine if they are cancer-free.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">If the margins are clear of malignancy the surgeon may proceed with the reconstruction. Otherwise, he will have to remove more tissue for analysis.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">Once the pathologist confirms that the margins are clear, i.e., tumor-free, we may proceed with the reconstruction.
