When considering an operation to rejuvenate their eyes, patients first inquire about the time needed for recovery and secondly, what to expect<\/a> during that period. This is relevant when planning ahead to take some time off work and schedule vacations accordingly or for those who want to avoid attending an important meeting or social gathering while their eyes are still bruised.<\/p>

Before entering the operating room, patients should keep in mind that each person heals differently. At the same time, they should expect bruising and swelling after the procedure, without exceptions. \u00a0What varies with patients is how long these last. Some may experience swelling for 7 days and others for 2 weeks or more. The same applies to bruising. Most patients experience bruising for one week, but this may vary tremendously between patients. It is very important to follow the surgeon\u2019s instruction before the operation, especially about avoiding or discontinuing certain medications, multivitamins, and herbal supplements that may prolong bruising, such as aspirin, vitamin E, and ginger, respectively.<\/p>

Cold compresses are recommended for the first 24 to 48 hours. In addition, certain topical products, such as arnica gel or cream, may help reduce bruising. Also, facial lymphatic drainage, magnetotherapy, and hyperbaric therapy can promote a faster recovery by reducing swelling postoperatively. The surgeon will recommend the best therapy for each patient.<\/p>

Patients are urged to rest, avoiding physical activity for at least one week. Starting in the second week, light exercise such as walking is encouraged. In the third week, the intensity of exercise can be increased slightly. However, if the eyelids become swollen with physical exertion, it is necessary to decrease its intensity and wait a few more days before working out.<\/p>

The patient plays a fundamental role in the success of lower blepharoplasty<\/a>. Persons should expect a good outcome only if they take care of themselves during the recovery process. Those who follow the surgeon’s instructions will have a successful recovery and see the best results.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
